The sunrise welcomed us beautifully into a new day of ministry here in Santiago, Chile. Scripture tells us that the heavenly declaration of the majesty of God is a tongue every tribe can understand, and what a timely reminder for us as we navigate sharing the love of Jesus Christ in a foreign land.
We made our way to Escuela Alfarero for a full day of ministry. The hospitality in Chile, and specifically at this Christian school, has been outstanding and has reminded me of Scripture’s admonition to be hospitable. Their staff and students gave us a very warm welcome.
Escuela Alfarero, like many schools in Chile, begins English education in the 5th grade. Students rarely have opportunities to practice English in an environment where Spanish is the official language. Our presence on their campus—teaching Bible lessons, singing Bible songs, tutoring math, playing sports, and engaging in fellowship—provides an avenue for them to practice English while hearing and seeing the love of Jesus Christ!
A memorable moment today was a Q&A session with a fourth-grade class after the Bible lesson, during which the students asked many questions about YOM missions. The Lord provided an opportunity for us to share why we came on this missions trip and also about the many other teams traveling around the globe this summer.
We were able to share that we love Jesus and that we have a desire to share Him with others—this is what missions is all about. We are encouraged by the reception of the gospel message and are excited about what the Lord will continue to do in this city.
Thank you for your support and your continued prayers.
